European Road Safety Year 10.11.1986

The European Economic Community had declared 1986 to be "European Road Safety Year" in an attempt to decrease the number of road accidents. This aim would be achieved through a joint research project and the enactment of  legal measures which will cover existing voids in the legislation as regards the safety of drivers and vehicles. A campaign during a "Road Safety Fortnight" was scheduled in Cyprus between 2-16 November 1986 in an attempt to inform the public and make them fully aware of Road Safety. In addition, commemorative series of three stamps designed by Antis Ioannides were released.

Thank you Merja.
