The Albert
Lasker Public Health Service Award was presented to the World Health
Organisation for its successful campaign against smallpox. The WHO received with
this award a statuette, reproduced on this cover, of the winged Victory of
Samothrace, symbolising victory over disease and death.
The stamp on
the cover is one of a set of two. This nice FDC was given to me by my friend
Merja.
