The
theme for the 1977 EUROPA CEPT stamps was 'Landscapes'.
In keeping with that theme Malta issued these two lovely stamps shown on this
first day cover given to me by my friend Maria.
The
stamp on the left is the Tal-Isperanza. Beyond
this old bridge one can see the famous Church of “Our Lady of Hope”.
The
stamp on the right shows
the Is-Salini. Salini is a village
in Malta. The borders of Salini are Baħar
Iċ-Ċagħaq, Magħtab, Naxxar and St. Paul's Bay. Salini
is mostly known for its salt pans and the Salini Catacombs. The
word salini means salt pans in Maltese.
